In today's Christian Devotion we find that the Psalmist here is expressing his confidence in God to protect him. We find in the bible that it is God's will to protect his children all the time. As we trust in God to protect us, He will watch over our life.
Harm can come to us in many ways and forms either by our own mistakes, wrong decisions, wrong friendships, being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Also not forgetting that the devil also can bring harm on our path because Jesus says in John 10:10 the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy.
So we need to be wise with how we live our life and at the same time same we need God's protection upon our life.
As a human being we are very much limited meaning to say we cannot always anticipate how harm will come to us all the time but rather we need to ask God's protection daily upon our lives, our family and friends.
Through the prayer derive confidence that God will protect you from harm at the same time be reminded that God's protection is not only for a season but for a life time as it says 'He will watch over your life.'
